A superb Interesting, entertaining and well presented talk was given by Bro Kevin Ruane MBE “Fire Fighter, Historian, Researcher and Nottingham Mason” The talk centred around tracking down the last moments of Lancaster LM756 F-Freddie and its destruction over Hitler’s Lair in Germany during the last hours of WW2
It was originally thought that this aircraft was the last bomber to be shot down, it now appears it was second to last but was the last with Commonwealth Crew on board.
The WM of Derbyshire Lodge of Installed Masters who is of course also our own Provincial Grand Master RW Bro Steven Varley presented Kevin with a cheque at the end of the talk. The Provincial Grand Master commented”its been quite a year for our involvement with the RAF and Lancasters in particular”
