Umbrella is an organisation which supports families living in Derbyshire, providing a range of exciting activities. Most services in Derbyshire are provided in Amber Valley, Erewash, Derby City, South Derbyshire and South Derbyshire Dales. Anyone can refer a child or young person to Umbrella including families, social workers, teachers and youth workers. They support children and young people aged 5 to 30 with any special need, including physical, sensory, learning & behavioural disabilities and additional needs.
The children particularly love spending time at Umbrella House and develop so much confidence and independence. They have the freedom to explore and choose the activities they take part in throughout the day.
The new sensory room is so popular with the children to relax in. They especially enjoy the interactive floor projector The organisation’s aim is to raise at least £50,000 each year to transform the lives of disabled children, young people and their families. All core costs are met by their funding partners. This means that 100% of all donations are spent on providing additional services/equipment at Umbrella such as to buy equipment, subsidise trips, run youth clubs and family support sessions along with much more!
Mentor Lodge No 7064 of Derbyshire Freemasons recently presented a cheque for £200 to Anne Rowlands from Derby Umbrella.
WBro Kim Brassington and WBro Martyn Bertalan presented the cheque on behalf of the Lodge following a lovely day spent with the staff, children and young people learning about the wonderful work which Umbrella do.
