On Sunday the 16th June, 25 cars set off from the historic Devonshire Dome in Buxton on the inaugural Grand Tour organised by High Peak Lodge in aid of the Derbyshire 2025 Festival. Registration began at 08:00, with participants enjoying a bacon butty and a hot drink prepared by the Worshipful Master of High Peak Lodge Gareth Flanagan.
As the car park began to fill up, visitors were able to wander around and view the interesting and varied vehicles. The oldest was a 1951 MGTD and the newest a BMW 228i Convertible.
Visitors also enjoyed a brace of very smart 911’s, a super cute Austin A30, a BMW Motorcycle, an E Type, an Aston Martin, a rare DeLorean and possibly the cleanest bright red MX5 you have ever seen.
The tour was 97.3 miles, although some admitted to covering over 100, and took participants from Derbyshire to Cheshire, then Staffordshire and then back into Derbyshire.
Many picnicked at Monsal Head, where thankfully the weather stayed dry and everything concluded at Chapel en le Frith Golf club, where certificates were presented to all who made it.
The team are still doing the final count, but it’s looking like the event raised around £450, a fantastic effort! Based on the success of this years’ event, planning has already begun for next year, watch this space for more details.
