The Merlin Chapter (Derbyshire) of the Widows Sons Masonic Bikers Association, along with over 100 other Widows Sons from various chapters throughout the country attended the annual “Ride to The Wall” charitable event on Saturday 5th October.
The event brought together thousands of passionate motorcyclists from around the globe, united for an unforgettable annual remembrance at the stunning National Memorial Arboretum.
Riders from multiple countries, including Spain, Germany, and the US, gathered for the 17th annual Ride to the Wall, embarking on an unforgettable convoy to the breathtaking site in Alrewas, Staffordshire. The excitement in the air was palpable as they came together to honour and remember the fallen, since the end of World War Two.
Organisers announced that this year’s ride, held on Saturday, was the most successful yet, boasting an incredible pre-registration turnout with 5,500 motorbikes ready to roll from 11 different start points!
Since its inception, the event has rallied the incredible “Wallers” community to raise over £1.66 million for the upkeep of the arboretum, showcasing their passion and dedication!
At 1 o’clock, all the Widows Sons in attendance, arranged to meet up in the “Masonic Memorial Garden” at the arboretum, to honour the memory of those Freemasons amongst those fallen service men and women.
After a short ceremony lead by John Perridge, the President of the Merlin Chapter, they made their way to the main ceremony, organised by the Ride To The Wall Team, where the traditional soundtrack of “Brothers In Arms” by Dire Straits set the mood, and the Last Post closed the ceremony.
A truly memorable day, for all who attended.
